Executive Committee
The Executive Committee provides oversight, continuity, and strategic direction for MEAM and its member utilities.
About Executive Committee
The Executive Committee has seven members, including MEAM’s officers, the past president, and two elected members at large. Together, they provide governance, continuity, and strategic guidance for the Association, ensuring MEAM’s work aligns with the needs and interests of Massachusetts municipal utilities.
The Executive Committee has the power to employ counsel on behalf of MEAM to represent it from time to time or for such purposes as it may deem in the best interest of the Association. Further, it may expend annually for such purposes a sum not exceeding five thousand dollars ($ 5,000), unless otherwise authorized by a two-thirds vote of the Active Members of the Association present and voting, or represented by proxy, at a regular meeting of the Association. The Executive Committee is empowered to pay the Secretary-Treasurer a reasonable amount for administrative services.
Elections
Officers and elected members of the Executive Committee, are elected by ballot for one year, but hold office until their successors are elected. Elections take place at the first meeting of every calendar year. In case a vacancy occurs in the office of President, the First-Vice President assumes the office until the next annual meeting. In case of a vacancy in any other office, the Executive Committee fills the role by appointment.
