Legislative Committee

The Legislative & Regulatory Committee monitors and analyzes policy developments affecting our industry. It provides guidance and advocacy to ensure regulatory frameworks support sustainable growth and operational excellence.

About Legislative Committee

The MEAM Legislative & Regulatory Committee reviews and analyzes laws and regulations that affect the organization’s goals. It watches state and federal legislative and regulatory issues related to their mission and supports positions that match their priorities. The committee helps shape policy by staying updated on current and upcoming laws and advising the organization on how to respond.

Legislative

The committee handles all state laws and bills that affect or interest its members. Its duties include:

  • Asking members for ideas on new laws

  • Communicating between members and the group's legislative advisors

  • Creating and carrying out plans to support the group's legislative goals

  • Watching and responding to any other laws that could affect Municipal Light Plants

This helps the group stay active and effective in shaping laws that matter to its members.

Regulatory

The committee deals with state rules made by government agencies that affect or interest its members. Its duties include:

  • Keeping track of new or changed regulations

  • Connecting members with the group's regulatory advisors

  • Creating and carrying out plans to handle proposed regulations

  • Watching and responding to any other regulatory issues that could impact Municipal Light Plants

This helps members stay informed and involved in important regulatory decisions.
